| Catastrophe recovery |
| If despite best efforts a project continues to fail to meet
deadlines, if it repeatedly exceeds budget expectations or if it seems that
quality issues cannot be overcome, then unless action is taken it is likely the
project will eventually fail catastrophically. It is often easier for external
experts to diagnose the problems and put the project back on-track. We have
years of experience. We will recognize (and have seen before) most causes of
project failure. In addition to guiding you through the recovery period, we
have the resources to enable us to help you fill skills shortages and if
necessary take over from contractors who have part-completed your project. We
will attempt to minimise disruption and, wherever possible, direct your
existing resources to achieve your goals.

| Whether you find yourself in difficulty because someone in your
technical / management team has left unexpectedly or because you have taken
over a business expecting the software and IT systems to be better than they
are, the task of sorting out the problem may seem daunting. We are used to this
type of challenge and we can provide expertise at short notice to scope the
problem and generate documentation to allow you to make meaningful plans as
well as providing technical assistance.

Philip M Gaffney OBE, MA, PhD
Managing Director
Dr Gaffney read Natural Sciences at Cambridge and went on to complete his PhD in geophysics at the Bullard Laboratories in Cambridge. He held Research Fellowships at Churchill College Cambridge, where he became the University's first Tutor for Industrial Liaison. He left the University to found Seescan plc which developed advanced image processing hardware and software that was used by most UK hospitals and in major blue chip companies around the world. He then founded Cambridge Advanced Electronics plc that developed leading-edge products for companies including Sony and Litton Industries. He was awarded his OBE for services to science and industry in 1997. Dr Gaffney set up Leading Light Software Services to work with an experienced, expert team to provide software consultancy and modern comprehensive software engineering services to industry.
L2S2's core engineering team have many years of successful
experience in software management, design and coding in most computer
languages.
The team has specialist knowledge and experience in internet
communications, telecoms,scientific instrumentation, pharmaceutical software,
bioscience and medicine.
